A Barking Good Time

altThe first annual Circle L Roundup was held at the Montelucia Resort and Spa in Paradise Valley, Arizona on Nov. 21. The attendees and staff all had a barking good time! The day started with an introduction to the many animals that Circle L has saved over the years, as well as quite a few that are currently up for adoption. Ranging from Hector, the giant Rottweiler (who incidentally found a fur-ever home) to the cute little kittens who waited patiently in the corner, there was a pet for every household.

Give a Senior a New Home

altWe see it every day in the rescue world. The sweet black Labrador with a few gray hairs on his muzzlegets overlooked despite his gently wagging his tail and loving demeanor. Instead, the rambunctious three-month-old puppy jumping on his brother is taken home. The cuddly tabby lap cat that follows you with her eyes is ignored because of the five kittens climbing the side of her cage.

Everyone loves puppies and kittens – they’re cute and loveable and so much fun to watch. Yet they are also a lot of hard work. There is training to be done, extra feedings to attend too, the additional risk of disease that their young bodies are not prepared to fight... And more training.

Brownie Ray

Named after Ray Charles, Brownie Ray is a 3-month-old goat that recently came to Circle L Ranch from Bandarra, Texas. She was a triplet and born with cataracts in both eyes which caused blindness that the veterinarian tells us is untreatable. But this spirited little goat hasn’t let blindness stop her from leading an adventurous life!

An Update on the Encanto Dog

Circle L Rescue recently heard from the new family of the Encanto dog, who was starved, beaten, hogtied and left to die in a t-shirt near Encanto Park. It’s a happy update as well! Read on for the day’s bright spot in animal rescue. Read her Happy Tail and view the before and after pictures.

On the first day, we took Encanto back to my parents home where they have a lovely backyard of grass and shade. She was very shy and spent most of her time in the kennel and didn’t even want to come out. Fear had taken over this poor pup’s life. My mother and I took turns sitting in a nearby chair to talk to Encanto. Finally, after a long day’s work, she allowed us to pet her for a few moments at a time before retreating back to the kennel.
